Instead of the old boring print ads and radio commercials, marketers have moved on to a new digital form of advertising.
Inbound Marketing is digital marketing where companies use SEO, blogging, social media, forums, and eBooks to advertise their products or services. Different companies will have different techniques of inbound marketing based on which consumers they are trying to reach. Some may stick mainly to social media sights which others will focus on blogs and forums. The hopes of inbound marketing is to reach consumers who are likely to want your product/ service through new interactive, digital, techniques.
Instead of someone looking at a coupon for Wal-Mart in a coupon book, they can now like Wal-Mart’s Facebook page and have updates on sales and coupons without having to search through coupon books. If someone has questions about their Xbox not running properly they can look online at forums and see what other people have experienced and how to fix the problem.
Inbound marketing is a fairly new technique which makes now a great time to get into the inbound marketing job field.
The goal for inbound marketers is to help “potential customers find your company – often before they are even looking to make a purchase – and then turning that early awareness into brand preference and, ultimately, into leads and revenue.” (http://markstaton.files.wordpress.com/2013/09/inbound_marketing.pdf)
Some of the best techniques for inbound marketers are learning search engine optimization and Google analytics. Knowing these strategies will lead to a bright future in inbound marketing.
